c'est si bon! summer kid-chef programs offer a nationally recognized qualified (encouraging and enthusiastic) chef taught culinary education with a decidedly 'in-the-french-countryside' ambiance and philosophy.
the school rests on 3 acres of land with araucana hens, heritage breed turkeys, and a working garden of seasonal herbs, vegetables, and in the summer, berries.
the first hour of the day is spent with the gardening guru, rich snover. using an eclectic and humorous approach our very own homegrown ”mr. blue jeans” goal is for the young chefs to develop self confidence in their palate through taste explorations.
then its off to the kitchen where our young chefs practice hands-on techniques of the world; how to balance flavors both savory and sweet while creating a four course restaurant quality meal that includes participants from each level of the food pyramid.
c’est si bon!’s aim is to empower kids and for them to embrace the richness that cooking adds to their life.
our weekly programs are new every year. recipes are drawn from our travels, our fabulous chefs, collaborative experiences with our colleagues, and from the all-time favorite list of our kid-chefs who often return each summer. that is until they are ready to graduate to our teen-chef programs or become a kid-chef intern.
the rewards are on both sides of the table; in the heart and on the plate.
