Bonjour! and Bienvenue! Welcome to my writing life at C'est si Bon!.
My mission as a writer is to share stories that greet every day with equal measures of trust and abandonment to experience paths forgotten, forbidden, and familiar.
Without a shadow of a doubt being a chef-teacher and writer began some twenty years ago when a hurricane swept through my life and lands.
When we cleared away the downed trees, what appeared but the C'est si Bon! Cooking School! I taught classes on the Mother Sauces and raised our two sons, Erick and Jaryd, with my husband, Rich.
Rich is the Somm, the beekeeper, shitake-nurturer, composter of kitchen scraps, and tucker-inner of rosemary in the garden, and in many hidden spots, so I can't harvest it all on a whim.
But oddly enough it was the same hurricane, downed trees, muddy red clay roots, stubborn and still here stumps, twisted branches, torn twigs, and the three or four or five fires I kept burning for weeks; that began my journey of writing.
Both journeys get fed daily; and a new one begins as our oldest son, Erick, joins us as Executive Chef, Wrangler of Kid-Chefs, Taste the Adventure, Date Night, and Goats.
Meanwhile our youngest, Jaryd, lives in the Pacific Northwest with his wife, Ana, where they meet life's challenges with verve and imagination; including the care and feeding of their beautiful baby!
Perhaps the days at C'est si Bon! can best be described as stirring a levain (the sourdough starter) while listening to chickens scratching and rustling the fallen leaves.
Join me, and as they say in France, a' table! where begins a delicious fable.
